Equality Montana Hiring for Internship
The Montana Human Rights Network, a state-based human rights organization working to organize Montana residents to realize their power to create community, equality, and justice, is expanding its Equality Montana Project to increase awareness and support for LGBTQ+ equality. Equality Montana is a project that seeks to expand an active and engaged statewide LGBTQ+ civic engagement program to increase the reach, visibility, and impact of LGBTQ+ organizing in the state.
Equality Montana provides training and education to individuals, private businesses, and government entities on how to provide diverse, inclusive, and equitable environments for employees, customers, and patrons. Additionally, the project works to mobilize our communities and partners to advocate and take action to promote equitable policies for the LGBTQ+ community at the local, state, and federal level.
Position: Equality Intern
Hours: This is a part-time, temporary position. 15-20 hours per week for 12 – 16 weeks. Applicants should expect flexible hours and a varying work week depending on workload
Location: Helena or Bozeman (applicants in Bozeman should have experience working remotely)
Compensation: $15 per hour
Internship Responsibilities and Duties
Identify potential LGBTQ+ and allied community leaders.
Maintain data on supportive LGBTQ+ allies, business leaders, and community members.
Collaborate with Equality Montana Staff to organize LGBTQ+ Welcoming Workplace Summits in Billings and Bozeman.
Assist Executive Director in implementing Equality Montana development plan to create sustainable funding and grow awareness of the LGBTQ+ movement in Montana.
Assist Equality Montana Program Director in maintaining Equality Montana member communications and social media presence.
Other duties as assigned by Equality Montana Staff.

Strong community relationships

Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Strong interest in racial justice, LGBTQ+ equity, and social justice in Montana
Interest in learning about multi-issue approaches to human rights
Working Conditions
This position requires flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends. Applicants should be comfortable working in a shared professional office space. Applicants should be comfortable working in a field setting.
